I guess this is a little more sci-fi than fantasy, for once....
WOW THIS ATE MY BRAIN. Hopefully now that it's done I can move on to other things oh who am I kidding I'm just going to draw more of this guy :X
Kees is mine! HE IS MY BABY and also some kind of muse or something holy crap. Here he is perching like some sort of not-ugly-enough gargoyle above a city of vague, ill-defined abstract shapes (which may or may not also contain some sort of glowing leyline of energy floating above the ground like a hovering river).
RIVERS IN THE SKY okay I should sleep now or something.
Gotta say, this work continues to grab my attention no matter how many times I view it. When I saw it at the Expo my gut immediately went "MUST HAVE!" and I can't say that the sensation has changed since ^_^
I look forward to reviewing the rest of your Gallery in addition to future work ^_^
Thank you. (: It's always super cool to hear that people like my work, and as this piece is one I'm particularly proud of it makes me happy that it stood out to you. :>
Can he fly? This looks sooo cool^^ The city kind of reminds me of the one in the movie Metropolis, only more awesome with the floating river. Really neat!
The lighting... ahhhhhhg! It creates such a sense of structure, and then such a great sense of hazy-far-off depth. I like the little touches, like how you've painted the light filtering through his wings. Also, everything is better with zeppelins!
I'm also really glad that you didn't go into super meticulous detail with the buildings (drawing 5000 sharp little windows, etc.).. just little bits where they were needed, to help suggest a look.
